Cadbury's Chocolate Factory (5 minutes from Northside)
The biggest chocolate factory in Australia was established in 1921. As with so many things, fresh is best for chocolate and you simply won't sample any fresher than on a tour through the Cadbury factory. Free samples of Roses chocolates and the famous glass-and-a-half fo milk chocolate blocks can be nibbled along the way, and enjoy the whole range of Cadbury products with the loest discount prices, at the factory shop.

Salmon Ponds (30 minutes from Northside)
The oldest trout hatchery in the southern hemisphere. Trout for Tasmania's renowned fishing waters have been raised at the Salmon Ponds since 1864.
The museum of Trout Fishing and Salmon Ponds, contain fascinating displays illustrating the changes in fishing equipment over time. Exhibits also feature some of the people and places in angling history.

Banorang Wildlife Centre (20 minutes from Northside)
Visit the wildlife park to watch Tasmanian devils interacting, wombats burrowing and quolls playing. Hand feed the kangaroos and share unforgetable moments with the koalas.

Mt Field National Park and Russell Falls (55 minutes from Northside)
The lower parts of the park feature beautiful waterfalls and magnificent forests, while the highlands have peaks, lakes and an abundance of fascinating alpine vegetation. Walks range from the wheel-chair accessible Russell Falls track through to alpine wilderness walks. The alpine area also has southern Tasmania's only ski field.
